There are many reasons that you should get certified as a Nitrox diver. Nitrox diving allows you to experience the thrill of enriched air. You will also feel more confident diving. There are many organizations that offer certification courses. These are just a few: NAUI Enriched Airnitrox Diver, PADI Enriched Air Divers, SSI Adventure Diver and Open Water Diver.
PADI Enriched Air Diver
PADI Enriched Air Divers (EANx) certification is designed for divers who want to improve their diving experience. The course includes a short classroom session and home study. The EANx course covers the oxygen content of the scuba tank and how to use a scuba oxygen analyser. It also covers standard procedures for recording the oxygen percentage in the tank.
Nitrox enriched air divers are able to extend the time they can stay underwater without having to make frequent stops. The air mix has a lower amount of nitrogen, which gives them a greater safety margin. Furthermore, enriched mixes often have 32% to 36% oxygen, which is ideal for diving in shallower waters.
NAUI Enriched Air Nitrox Diver
An enriched-air diver certification is a good step towards taking your diving to the next level. This course teaches the basics of mixing air, the risks associated high oxygen concentrations, and how you can handle the equipment. Furthermore, you'll be able to use a divecomputer and analyze the contents. You'll also learn the Equivalent Air Depthance and how to use a standard dive table. Common blending techniques for nitrogen and oxygen will also be covered.
Nitrox is also known as enhanced air. This type of breathing gas contains more oxygen then standard air. The higher oxygen content allows you to stay underwater longer without the need to recharge your tank. It reduces the effects of decompression fatigue and is beneficial to your health. Also, enriched-air divers have shorter surface intervals.
SSI Adventure Diver
SSI International is a recognised diving organization. The SSI Adventure Diver Nitrox Certification ranks among the top. You must have knowledge and experience in order to be certified. This certification requires you to have completed at least 50 dives or four specialty courses.
The SSI Adventure Diver nitrox training course was designed to give students the skills and knowledge required to dive in poor visibility. The course teaches divers to use special equipment, navigate in the dark and communicate with a buddy. After completing this course, they will be eligible to apply for the SSI Nitrox Specialty certification.
SSI Open Water Diver
The SSI Open Water Diver Course is an internationally recognized certification program. It includes three sections: academic learning; in-water swimming pool training; and multiple open water dives. During this course, you will learn how to plan and dive using enriched air mixes up to 40% oxygen. This can increase your bottom speed and decrease your surface time. It also helps you avoid decompression syndrome.
PADI and SSI differ in how they handle certifications. PADI certification requires you to buy your manual. However, with an SSI certification, you receive your card from the dive center where you completed your course. PADI certification center may offer temporary cards you can use as proof that your certification is valid.
