It is an exciting and rewarding experience to become a certified scuba diver. It doesn't really matter if your goal is to get the PADI Open Water Diver certification. Here's a quick overview of certification, including costs, speciality courses and whether they can be done online.

PADI Open Water Diver Certification

Before you can apply to become a PADI Open Water Diver, you will need to learn how to scuba dive. This course will increase your confidence and allow you to try different skills. You'll learn these skills while working with a PADI Instructor.

PADI Open Water Diving has many advantages. The course will allow you to learn to scuba-dive and also give you the opportunity to interact directly with the marine life. You'll be doing 4 open water divers during the course. These dives could be in the ocean, lake, or sea.

If you have always wanted to dive into the ocean but have always been unsure of the specialties available, you can start your scuba certification process with the right course. PADI's courses in scuba diving are designed to get you ready for the challenges of diving. You will learn basic scuba equipment, marine biology, and navigation. Additionally, you will learn communication skills and how underwater lights can be used.


PADI Underwater Naturalist Specialty Course - This course is great for anyone who loves to dive. It teaches divers how to identify species and groupings, as well as the relationships between these species. It counts towards your Master Scuba Diver certification and is recommended to those who have a passion for aquatic life.

Costs for getting certified as a scuba diver vary depending on what training program you choose and how many dives you do. A typical course lasts 4 days and costs approximately $500. However it could take less. While the costs of training vary, most programs are affordable and offer multiple-day courses.

Personal gear will be a major part of your certification costs. This includes a fitted mask, snorkel, wetsuit boots, and a pair of scuba fins. You want to make sure you get high-quality gear that will last many dives. You can also spend several hundred dollars on a top-of the-line diving computer.

Online scuba certification

An online certification is an option for anyone who wants to scuba dive but doesn't have the time or desire to travel. You will reap many benefits from completing an online course. An online course will allow you to spend more time at home than in a classroom. You will also have the flexibility to study at your own pace. If you are interested, you can also take a practical training class after you have completed the online course.

PADI courses are available online for $129. This includes accessing your course materials, knowledge development training and course materials. The SSI certification can be obtained for a fraction of the cost if the course is not required.
