Ice skating is possible at the UIUC Ice Arena. The synchronized skate team of the UIUC is nationally ranked. They have had performers compete at the international and national level. Tickets to UIUC's Spring Show are $5 for general seating and $7 for reserved seating.

The University of Illinois Ice Arena, also known as the Big Pond, is an ice skating arena in Champaign, Illinois. It is managed by the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The rink hosts a number of events, including hockey.

Skating opportunities

The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign offers an open-air ice arena. There are several steps to follow if you want to host a group event at this rink. You must first make a reservation. Visit the Illini Union's RSO Office in Room 284 to make a reservation. You will need to provide a list of participants when you reserve ice time. You will also need to arrange for a supervisor at the rink to answer your questions during the rental period.

Center Ice Cafe

The University of Illinois Ice Arena's Center Ice Cafe is open to the public. The cafe is adjacent to the Customer Service Office. It serves food and beverages. There is also an Ice Arena Pro Shop, which stocks a wide selection of hockey and skating accessories.

Champaign, Illinois is home to The University of Illinois Ice Arena. It is managed by the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The public is welcome to use the ice arena throughout the year. This rink is open to the public for figure and skateboarding.

Spring show

Gas leak at UI Ice Arena

After a gas leaking from its ice arena, the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign issued an Illini-Alert. The building, which is located at 406 E. Armory Ave. had to be evacuated in precaution after Ameren Illinois crews noticed a gas leak. To stop further contamination, firefighters closed a sideway that leads to the arena. It is believed the leak came from underneath the building.
