Dani Koyomaru

Saint Lucia offers divers a range of diving options. You can either visit Rosemond's Trench or go deeper. This is a site known for its impressive coral formations and large schools of tropical seafood. Diving here is also a great way to see the famous Saint Lucia reef system.

A few miles from the coast, the Daini Koyomaru is a wreck. This Japanese dredger fell in 1996. The ship is still partially submerged, and the wreck is propped up by the superstructure. As well as inscribed Japanese and other languages, there are visible upturned decks.

Dani Koyomaru dredger

The Daini Koyomaru dredged in 1996, a Japanese fishing vessel, is a fantastic wreck to dive. It measures 74m in length and is approximately twenty-four meters high. The dredger has been turned on its side to make it safe for novice divers. It is home to a variety of marine life, including garden eels and moray eels as well as barracudas.

Another popular St Lucia dive location is the 165-foot Japanese dredger Lesleen M. The depths at this site are not very deep, but the reef is home a lot of fascinating creatures like scorpionfish, flying grunards, and even rays.

Soufriere Marine Management Area

You can dive in St Lucia's Soufriere Marine Management Area to see the beautiful coral reefs. This marine management area was established to preserve the waters and foster a healthy ecosystem. Its establishment was inspired by environmental degradation and conflict among resource users. The SMMA was primarily created because of conflicts between local fishermen and scuba divers.

Since 2004, the Soufriere Pintons site has been a UNESCO World Heritage area. It is managed as a nature reserve and features some of the best diving in St Lucia. It is home to numerous coral species as well as an abundance of tropical fish. This area is also known for the passage of various species of cetaceans and predators. Divers can also observe the beautiful marine biodiversity.
