Advanced Scuba Rangers program
The Advanced Scuba Rangers program allows students to advance their scuba diving skills and gain confidence in the water. Advanced Scuba Rangers will be able to participate in various underwater activities and demonstrate their skills to their friends and family. This program is for children who are passionate about the ocean.
There are two phases to the Advanced Scuba Rangers Program. The first phase is designed to introduce students to basic skills required for wreck diving. They will learn how to find and prepare for wrecks in the second phase. They will also learn how to use different search patterns and calculate distances. In addition, they will learn how to assess the risks of a wreck dive.
To become an Advanced Scuba Ranger you will need to complete the basic Scuba Rangers course. Typically, the program lasts five days. The cost of the program is $350. That includes all training equipment, pool time, instructor fee, and all scuba equipment. To enroll in this program, you must be at least eight years old. The program also includes an optional single-day Ranger Specialty program.

Teachers are also eligible for a free orientation. It takes approximately 60 minutes to complete and includes a brief overview of the National Aquarium's education programs. Instructors will learn safe use of scuba equipment as well as how to use regulators or masks. They will also learn about marine life and the importance to properly care for their equipment. After their orientation, students will be able to visit an aquarium and participate on an educational program.
Learn in the pool
Rangers not only learn to dive but also learn navigation and basic underwater searching techniques. They will learn how to use a square search, grid, or compass to locate treasures under water. These skills will be practiced in a pool. After mastering each skill, they will be able to swim a mile with their snorkel, fins and mask. Rangers learn to use basic first aid, and how to spot signs of stress or trouble when diving.
Perform a front and back flip under water without depleting your body. Another activity requires candidates take a mask and their teeth to the pool floor, and perform five underwater bobs. To fail to complete a full bob, you will need to drop the mask or break the restraints.
