Learn in the pool

Rangers not only learn to dive but also learn navigation and basic underwater searching techniques. They will learn how to use a square search, grid, or compass to locate treasures under water. These skills will be practiced in a pool. After mastering each skill, they will be able to swim a mile with their snorkel, fins and mask. Rangers learn to use basic first aid, and how to spot signs of stress or trouble when diving.

Perform a front and back flip under water without depleting your body. Another activity requires candidates take a mask and their teeth to the pool floor, and perform five underwater bobs. To fail to complete a full bob, you will need to drop the mask or break the restraints.
