Skating opportunities
The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign's ice arena is open to the general public. There are several steps to follow if you want to host a group event at this rink. First, you need to make a reservation. The RSO Office is located in Room 284 at the Illini Union. You will need to provide a list of participants when you reserve ice time. You'll also need to arrange for an instructor to visit the rink to answer questions during the rental period.
Center Ice Cafe
The University of Illinois Ice Arena has a Center Ice Cafe that is open to all. Located adjacent to the Customer Service Office, the cafe offers food and beverages. The Ice Arena Pro Shop stocks a variety of skating and hockey accessories.
Free skate trainers
Champaign's University of Illinois Ice Arena is a rink. It is owned and operated by the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The ice arena is free to use throughout the year. The public is allowed to use this rink to learn and practice figure and skateboarding.
Spring Show

Gas leak at UI Ice Arena
An Illini-Alert has been issued by the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign following a gas leak at their ice arena. After Ameren Illinois crews and firefighters discovered a gas leak, the building at 406 E. Armory Ave. was evacuated. To prevent further contamination, firefighters closed off a sideway leading to arena. The leak is believed to have originated from beneath the building.
