Be a Cavern Diver

To become a cavern dive instructor, you must complete a scuba diver course. This course includes four scuba diver dives. Your instructor will help you plan your dive and maintain your control over your orientation and air flow. The course will prepare you to dive in caves.

Safety rules

The Rule of Threes applies to cave diving safety protocols. The cave diver should have three different sources of light and a minimum of two separate tanks, either independently or manifold mounted. To ensure that they have enough gas for the dive, they must also split their gas into three parts. If the dive team has previous experience with cave diving, a more conservative approach to gas management is recommended. Cave divers must practice safe diving practices in order to avoid hazards from caves.

Equipment

Cave diving requires specialized equipment. It is important to carry two types of safety reels. One should be used as a guideline reel, and the other should be used during the dive. Each diver should have a safety reel that has enough line to reach the cave's entry and the longest permanent line. Most manufacturers will wrap the reels with guideline to prevent them from jamming when they make a new reel. To avoid a jam, you should cut off about 10 meters (30 ft) of line before use to reduce the risk of entanglement.

Maximum penetration

TDI offers a cavern diver course that is designed for scuba divers who wish to dive in areas where direct vertical access is not possible. This includes diving into caverns and overhangs. This course is not required to be able to dive in caverns, but it will teach you the skills necessary to make the most out of these environments. In this course, you will learn how to safely navigate the confined spaces that are often hidden from view.

Maximum depth

There are certain limitations to cavern diving. Cavern diving must be avoided at night. Cavern diving requires advanced training, which is not the case for other types. To be able to dive in caverns safely, you will need to know the basics and understand your limits. Before you dive in caves, you should have experience with it. Then, you can begin a journey into the world of cavern diving!
