Inexperienced adults who supervise scuba diving are the main risk factor. Children are different from adults in their mindsets and can easily be distracted by divers who are more experienced. That's why parents should be vigilant and pair their child with an experienced adult. The experienced adult will be able to deal with the child's attention span and ability to get distracted by shiny objects. An experienced adult can also monitor the child's air intake, swimming position, ascent rate, and depth.

You should be able to fit your child comfortably in the jacket, and it should also allow for breathing.
