Become a Cavern Diver

A scuba diving course is required if you want to become a cavern diver. The course includes four scuba divers. The first is an outdoors practice dive. Here you will learn the basics of handling line, reel, avoiding silt, and managing air. Your instructor will show you how plan your dive, and keep your air and orientation under control. The course will prepare you to dive in caves.

Safety rules

Cave diving safety protocols should follow the Rule of Threes. Cave divers should have at least three sources of light, and two tanks. They should also divide their gas into three separate sections to ensure that they have enough gas to survive the dive. If the dive crew is experienced and has been diving in caves in the past, a more conservative gas management program is preferred. Cave divers need to be aware of cave hazards and practice safe diving techniques.

Equipment

Cave diving requires specialized equipment. Two types of safety reels are essential. One should be used for guideline running, while the other should keep the line tension high while the diver is in a cave. For cavern diving, each diver must have a safety rod with enough line for the distance to the cave's entrance. The majority of manufacturers will fill the reels with guideline. This increases the likelihood of them jamming. To avoid jamming, remove approximately 10 meters (30ft), of line prior to use.

Maximum penetration

TDI offers a cavern diver course that is designed for scuba divers who wish to dive in areas where direct vertical access is not possible. This includes diving in caverns and underhangs. It is not mandatory to sign up for a cavern dive course. However, the course will provide the necessary skills to make the most of the environment. This course will help you navigate dangerously through the small spaces that are sometimes hidden from your eyes.

Maximum depth

Cavern diving is subject to certain restrictions. Cavern diving is not recommended for night dives. Additionally, cavern diving requires more advanced training than most other types of diving. You will need to be familiar with cave safety procedures and your limits if you are interested in diving in caverns. You should also have some cave diving experience before you try it. After that, you are ready to embark on your journey into the cavern diving world!
